Roles and Responsibilities:
Job Overview
Krishna Engineering Works is seeking an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Manager to manage end-to-end procurement operations for the manufacturing unit. The role involves sourcing raw materials, components, tools, equipment, and services while ensuring compliance with the 6 Rights of Purchasing — Right Material, Right Quality, Right Price, Right Quantity, Right Time, and Right Supplier.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Planning
- Review material requisitions received from the Production Department.
- Verify stock levels in coordination with the Stores Department.
- Plan procurement schedules to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Monitor consumption trends and forecast material requirements.
Vendor Selection & Management
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers.
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Maintain and update the approved vendor list.
- Develop long-term supplier relationships and rate contracts.
Purchase Order Management
- Prepare, review, and issue Purchase Orders (POs).
- Ensure accuracy of specifications, quantities, and commercial terms.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
- Resolve supply delays and discrepancies.
Quality & Inspection Coordination
- Coordinate with the Quality Control Department for inspection of incoming materials.
- Ensure materials meet required technical specifications.
- Manage rejection, replacement, and corrective action processes.
Inventory Coordination
- Work closely with Stores to maintain optimum inventory levels.
- Prevent overstocking and stock-outs.
- Monitor reorder levels and material movement.
Cost Control & Budget Management
- Negotiate best prices to achieve cost savings.
- Monitor market trends and price fluctuations.
- Ensure procurement activities are aligned with budget targets.
- Reduce emergency purchases through effective planning.
Required Skills
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Knowledge of procurement cycle and supply chain processes
- Cost analysis and budgeting capability
- ERP system knowledge preferred
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers and deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Commerce / Supply Chain Management
- MBA (Preferred)
